The Palouse Divide is hosting free beginner cross-country ski lessons every other Saturday. We will cover gear basics, getting comfortable maneuvering on skis, and basic classic skiing techniques.
Registration will be through Eventbrite. Watch for links in the weekly email, our website, and our Facebook page.
Email: palousedividenordic@gmail.com to ask about reserving a private lesson for your group or club.
Gear: Skis, boots, and poles will not be provided. Rentals are available through Hyperspud Sports in Moscow, the U Idaho Outdoor Programs, and the WSU Outdoor programs.
We will be doing the “classic” form of cross country skiing. Hyperspud is very knowledgeable if you have questions about gear! If you are using borrowed gear, double check that your boots and bindings match! There are multiple types of classic ski bindings, and not all boots and skis fit together.
Where and when: Be ready to meet near the trailhead (towards the top of the Palouse Divide Parking area Palouse Divide Nordic Ski Area (recgovnpsdata) - Google Maps) with your gear by starting time
Transportation: Transportation is not provided, however you may be able to coordinate carpooling by joining our club communication platform: main@pdnsc.groups.io | Home or posting on our Facebook page.
Parking Pass: Cars need a Idaho Park ‘N Ski Pass ($7.50 for 3 day or $25 for the season). Specifying the Palouse Divide as your main use area helps support the ski club!
Details: Lessons take ~2-3 hours depending on how far the group wants to go. We recommend bringing snacks and water for yourself! We will go as far as the warming hut on the main trail (1 mile) and participants can choose to either ski further on their own, or ski back to the trailhead with the lead instructor.
